Actually Hurricane Sandy showed a lot of perpetually dependent people in the northeast that the government cant do everything; it was a lesson that was needed. Unfortunately the lesson learned by the perpetually dependent was probably that the government needs to be even bigger and more powerful.

It showed them how little stands between them and violent chaos.
