I started watching that “Outlander” show, as it seemed like a cool blend of sci-fi/fantasy and historical drama, but as usual, they had to throw in gratuitous sex scenes and a silly soap opera plot, so I tuned out.
Hadn’t heard of it, but you’re correct. Drama is one thing, but some of these shows are just including things that don’t need to be.
A spy show, set in the 1700s doesn’t need to have a female coming over to a married man’s home with the threat of being caught in the act of sex on the dining table as some “essential” value to the story line...I was just sitting there waiting for the inevitable...the British officer returning. STUPID!
I think the producers think that if they don’t include sex, then the show will fail...
Here’s something writers/producers, try some quality writing and plot development...or is that beyond your capabilities?
They really didn’t add the amorous scenes. The book “Outlander,” and the series of books that followed included these scenes. I actually paid for STARZ to get the “Outlander,” series. Wonderfully produced. Very true to story line.
After the fifth book you really do have to suspend reality. How could this couple and their family have been involved in so many important historical events. But, it’s a kick.
Now adding these types of scenes to “Turn,” insulted me. If supposedly fact based, I haven’t read anything that supports them up.
LOL! I am guessing you haven’t read the books?
