The Senate Democrats' wounded leader is desperate to show that he's still in charge.
Harry Reid doesnt particularly like long phone calls. He is known to abruptly hang up after a quick conversation with an aide, a senator or a lobbyist.
But in the aftermath of a grisly New Years Day exercise accident, which gave him four broken ribs and may leave him permanently blind in one eye, the 75-year-old Nevada Democrat has been burning up the phones with up to 50 calls per day, trying to make clear that hes still in charge.

Yep, he wouldn’t even have to convince Mitch. :-)
“Dingy Harry, Reid’ exercise equipment. Yes, we know, Harry.”

Senator Geary — Part II
Reid certainly has interesting "friends".
As far as I can tell Reid has blind his entire life.

Reid served as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1977 to 1981. When Jack Gordon, La Toya Jackson’s future agent and husband, offered Reid a $12,000 bribe to get approval of new games for casinos, Reid brought in the FBI to tape Gordon’s bribery attempt and arrest him. After FBI agents interrupted the transaction, as prearranged, Reid lost his temper and began choking Gordon, saying “You son of a bitch, you tried to bribe me!” Gordon was convicted in 1979 and sentenced to six months in prison. In 1981, Reid’s wife found a bomb attached to the family station wagon; Reid suspected it was placed by Gordon.[1]
So he actually didn’t survive a bombing!
I have to start a legal defense fund for the exercise company...if Harry going to sue them.
