Weird Al Yankovic does not spend a whole lot of time on the road, possibly because its really, really difficult and expensive to stage like 20 different music-video parodies per show. But after the success of last years album Mandatory Fun, Yankovic has announced plans to hit the road heavily this summer, hitting practically every town in the U.S. and Canada from May to September, and then heading to Europe in September and October.
Hell stop at a few festivals, but hes mostly playing bigger venues (including a surprising number of casinos) on his own. This man has decades worth of goofy novelty hits, and he is absolutely committed to entertaining you at all times, so you could probably think of worse things to do with your night. I thought he announced his retirement earlier this year?
It’s his farewell tour. You know, those tours rock stars do annually.
Mandatory World Ping
That is a grueling schedule! He’ll be performing near us in June, and I’d love to go.
Finally some good news!!
Am I reading that right? His only venue in California is Arcata? I may have to go see Weird Al.
I like him. Some of his song parodies show more musical talent and a better voice than the originals IMHO.
His movie, UHF, was on one of the obscure satellite channels late, late night / early morning a couple of days ago.
Most of the world, certainly, is not worthy.
Just tell the world to Eat It, Eat It, Eat It, Al
TIA
how weird...11 shows in Canada and not one in Greenland.
I was gonna say! ... but 6/08 Lancaster, PA raises possibilities. Gosh, you know you always think of these things, but you never do them. But this is a last chance!
Rock on Al
In a day and age where DJ sarcasm is lost, Al is a breath of fresh air
Saw Alice the other night, he said he was 76 or some such “and would he stop?”
He said WHY? I still got it.
He’s 67.
if he has to go, he’d prefer to have one of his beheadings go horribly wrong and die onstage.
Talk about “you can’t top that”.
:)
Weird Al inspired me to write dozens of parodies. Unfortunately, I don’t have much musical talent...
