White House 'Strongly Condemns' Unrest In Yemen As Violence Escalates Official says Obama is closely monitoring events in Sanaa amid reports that separatist Houthi rebels have attacked presidents palace in the capital
The White House has condemned instability in Yemen that appears to threaten the hold on power of one of Americas pivotal counter-terrorism partners.
Amid reports that separatist Houthi rebels had attacked the palace of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, a senior US official said Obama was receiving updates from his national security team, hours before Obamas State of the Union address.
We strongly condemn the violence and those stoking it in an effort to disrupt Yemens political transition. We will continue to support efforts to bring about a peaceful solution, said the senior administration official, who said the US was closely monitoring events in Sanaa.

If you’re going to condemn something, you should always go for the big banana and strongly condemn it.
Translation: We're "doing" nothing about this.
Next thing you know they’ll be sending a sternly worded letter.
Wasn’t he closely monitoring events in Benghazi? Look what happen there.
But did he draw a line in the sand?
They will announce Evacuation by helicopter after the Gibmedat speech.
Boy, I hate to be in the terrorists’ shoes! When Obama is mad, look out! Especially once he puts that newspaper down!
More interested in the president of Yemen than he was in his own ambassador in Banghazi
Don't be so critical, eh?
They're considering sending Kerry and Bono.
Oh sure, I bet “unrest” is really upset that Obama condemned it, and is going to think carefully about its actions now.
What a joke. Obama can’t condemn his jihadist buddies, and he doesn’t want to publicly condemn the side he is supposed to be aligned with, so the coward condemns an amorphous thing instead, just to make it look like he cares.
Remember last years SOTU adddress when Obama cited out success in
Yemen as an exaple of our success against terror? Oh yeah ......Good times.....good times!!
