From Bloomberg via weaselzippers:

The U.S. government should immediately close and evacuate the U.S. Embassy in Sana’a, Yemen, according to Senator Dianne Feinstein, the Democratic vice-chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

I asked her today whether the embassy, which remains open despite raging violence throughout the Yemeni capital, should be closed. She responded: “Based on what I know so far, yes.”

“I’m very concerned about our embassy there, who is still there, who isn’t still there, and what the plans are,” Feinstein added.

Feinstein is the Chair of Senate intel committee and she is saying, “get out”. Why are we then waiting? Is Obama more concerned about the optics of an evacuation during the SOTU from Yemen, one of his ‘success stories’?

Yemeni Rebel Leader Vows Escalation If Reforms Stall

Mohammed Hamoud—Anadolu Agency/Getty Images
(SANAA, Yemen) — The leader of the Shiite rebels who control Yemen’s capital and seized the presidential palace on Tuesday warned of a further escalation if President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi stands in the way of political reform.

(snip)

Houthi also voiced defiance to the U.N. Security Council, which held a closed-door meeting on the Yemeni crisis on Tuesday, saying “any measure you take to force this country to succumb … will not benefit you.”

You are making several interesting assumptions. First, that the house of Saud is opposed to ISIS. Second, that the majority of muslims would be upset if Mecca fell in there hands.

The first I am not sure about, and the second I suspect is wrong.

The Obama foreign policy failures are simply staggering in their regularity.

Now McLettuce on Cavuto being *very concerned* about these Iranian-sponsored rebels. Right about as he’s likely to IDd as a major player in moving MANPADS and other weapons in Benghazi, along with likely Feinstein.

It may be that IS is Saudi’s cleanser, taking out all the undesirables while they slowly make their way to the Saudi Wall, only to slip behind it once they’ve cleared the land of anti-Sauds. IS gets away with way too much not to have a major OPEC sponsor.

The "House of Saud" varies all over the map in terms of its relative radicalism. The premise of the observation was that the attempt on Mecca was Shia, not Sunni. ISIS is Sunni. So is the House of Saud.

Second, that the majority of muslims would be upset if Mecca fell in there hands.

The majority of Muslims are Sunni, particularly in Arabia. If Mecca fell into the hands of Shiites, there would be a very messy war.

There is a book out—see Amazon—about the coming war between Shia & Sunni & how important it is to the muslim world.

Of course, it’s here now. This thing is a very big deal, and the house of Saud is so frigging corrupt and degenerate that I wonder whether it can hold ISIS off. People who will fight to the death will have to flood the area, which will create a different set of issues.

Pretty sure the attack on the Embassy will be timed to coincide with morons “speech” this evening.

Hope they have good underground shelters, they’ll need them.

When things get pressing they'll fold like a cheap suit.

I have just the weapon system when the time comes. ;-)

They have the best shelter: The US military. Ever notice how the US government only goes after Muslims who are a threat to the Saudi establishment?

Since we’re not actually going after them, the Saudis do not feel threatened enough or prefer to buy them off. Lt. Obama is awaiting orders.

Wow. I agree with feinswine about something. Time to shut the embassy down. Evacuate all personnel, turn out the lights and close the door. Party is over.

To #50 Thackney: Re your comment “Yemen is very trival in their society. I used to live there a couple decades ago”.

Yemenis still “live there as they did a couple centuries or millennia ago”.

Same old, same old!
