A criminal investigation has been called for by Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick over a “highly divisive sign”.
The poster, found on Burdett Road in Poplar, claimed: “Do not walk your dog here! Muslims do not like dogs. This is an Islamic area now.”
Mr Fitzpatrick, who said the photo was sent to him by a constituent on Wednesday, has written to the Met Police and Tower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman calling for action to be taken.
The provenance of the sign is unknown, though it’s a great match for the ad it’s pasted on for that 1984 feel, but there is no question that Tower Hamlets has some Canineophobia issues...

The number of schools in the British city of Birmingham being investigated over fears that children are being radicalized by extremist Muslims attempting to seize control of educational institutions has now increased to 25. A couple of months ago it was four....
...Concerns about how some of the 430 schools in the city are being run first emerged last year in a leaked anonymous letter which outlined how to implement what it called Operation Trojan Horse. The letter, which credited the plot with forcing a change of leadership at four schools, gave instructions on ousting and replacing uncooperative head teachers and school governors, all under the umbrella of a “jihad” and as such “all means possible to win the war is acceptable”. The letter’s authenticity is unclear, but it led to a flood of claims from parents and staff that school bodies are being taken over by fundamentalist Islamists.
The schools where such indoctrination is taking place are known as academies. Established from 2000 onwards, they are state-funded but are independent of local authority control. It is part of the frustration that the Birmingham City Council has no remit in the schools, which answer only to the national Department for Education. By its own admission, the council does not know who is on the governing body of the schools...

The group, led by former Al-Muhajiroun leader Anjem Choudary, warned restaurants and shops in the Brick Lane area that they face 40 lashes if they continue to sell the product, which is banned under Sharia Law...

The radicals also attacked a group of men drinking in the road, and told a woman she would face ‘hell fire’ because of the way she was dressed. Horner, 19, Ricardo MacFarlane, 36, and a 23-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons were sentenced to 68 weeks, 12 months and 24 weeks in prison respectively.

Two brothers in law who went on a sponsored walk wearing comedy mankinis had to be picked up by police - after they were pelted with stones and eggs by residents who told them ‘this is a Muslim area’ and demanded they leave. Steven Ellis, 41, and Jason Hendry, 22, wanted to walk eight miles from Solihull to Birmingham city centre wearing the outfit featured in 2006 film Borat to raise money for Birmingham Dogs’ Home. But they ended up being escorted by officers after they were attacked as they passed through the Sparkbrook area of the city, claiming police said they had offended local Muslims during Ramadan.
They were driven through the area as locals hurled abuse at them - calling them paedophiles. Mr Ellis’s wife Victoria, 36, had followed the pair’s journey in a car, with the couple’s five young children. She said: ‘We were basically run out of the area. We had stopped at a supermarket car park to give the dogs a drink as it was a hot day, and we were suddenly surrounded. ‘The men were taking off their jackets and threatening to fight Jason. I have seen nothing like it in my life before. The children were terrified as within minutes a crowd of 30 or 40 men assembled.
‘They began throwing stones and eggs at us. They were shouting at Jason saying that he was a pervert and a paedophile, and one of them called me a dirty white s***. ‘They told us that they hated dogs and told us to get out of the car park...

Plastic bags to be put over Birmingham ‘terror cameras’

Bags are to be put over scores of surveillance cameras in parts of Birmingham with large Muslim populations, after local objections.
Safer Birmingham Partnerships (SBP) said 216 cameras were put up, including hidden ones, mainly in the Washwood Heath and Sparkbrook districts.
The cameras were financed through a counter-terrorism fund, but the SBP said they would tackle all crime.
Councillor Salma Yaqoob said people had lost faith in the authorities.
The Respect Party councillor for Sparkbrook said: “In terms of reassurance it’s going to take a lot more than plastic bags.
“The residents have lost faith with the authorities for their sneaky handling of the way they went about this and will not be reassured until they have been told the locations of the hidden cameras too.”...

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has begun to equip its female officers with a uniform issue hijab to wear when they enter a mosque.
The £13 headscarves are embroidered with the West Country force’s name and logo, and come in two colours — black for police officers and blue for community support officers. A spokeswoman insisted that they were not intended purely to cater for Muslim cultural sensibilities but were multi-faith.
“They are designed to be used in any place of worship and can be used to cover the head or the shoulders. For example, plain clothes officers could use them to cover their shoulders in a Catholic Church, or they can be used to cover the head in synagogues,” she said...

MUSLIM crime victims could gain the right to have their cases overseen by police from their own religion, it emerged last night.
Police in London already give victims the right to ask for a Sikh officer to be involved in an investigation but the scheme could be introduced for other religions elsewhere.
Chief Supt Joanna Young, from the Met’s Criminal Justice Policy Unit, said: “If it’s a success, I would encourage the other (police) associations to do likewise.”
The project is intended to help investigate “honour” killings and forced marriages but Metropolitan Police Federation chairman Peter Smyth said: “We’re stretched thin enough already. Are Sikh officers going to have their rotas changed so there’s always one on duty?
“It’s political correctness gone mad. We talking about the creation of a separate force within a force.”
But Palbinder Singh, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association, said: “I don’t believe a white officer is ever going to be fully conversant with a Sikh.”

The pop singer Morrissey claims he can no longer live in a Britain he believes lost to an “immigration explosion”.
The former frontman of the Smiths, who is now based in Rome, claimed England was just ‘a memory now’.
The 48-year-old added: “Other countries have held on to their basic identity yet it seems to me that England was thrown away.
“The change in England is so rapid compared to the change in any other country.
“If you walk through Knightsbridge on any bland day of the week you won’t hear an English accent.
“You’ll hear every accent under the sun apart from the British accent...
