Here’s What American Sniper Chris Kyle Said About His Killing Two Men at a Gas Station in 2009
DMagazine ^ | 1/19/15 | Michael J. Mooney

Chris Kyle was incredible. He was simply an incredible, real-life action hero. Before his death, he was already known as the deadliest sniper in American history and as a best-selling author. Since his death, a few reporters have heard trickles of other stories. Around Midlothian, one story in particular has been raising eyebrows. It goes something like this: when he was first back from Iraq, in 2009, Chris Kyle killed two armed men who were attempting to carjack him at a gas station.

I first heard this story more than a year ago. It hasn’t made the news much. There was a brief mention in Marcus Luttrell’s second book. And now the Star-Telegram has a blog item mentioning the story and how difficult it is to confirm. Well, as it turns out, I’ve been working on a story about Chris Kyle for about nine months. We talked regularly, mostly about the challenges and triumphs of his transition home. I first asked him about the story last summer, during an interview in his Dallas office. I said: “Now, I have to ask you about an incident that I’ve heard about. I heard it happened at a gas station.”

He said: “You mean the time I shot two guys trying to steal my truck?”

This article didn’t have the long version reported elsewhere; when they ran his ID they were referred to a DoD telephone number to call. In this version, he gave them the number to call- same conclusion.

Exactly, reminds me of that scene in Braveheart where he is out front, and someone says “Wallace is seven feet tall” and he responds with the bolts of lightning from his arse line.

Heroes are good to have.

Hell -of course- he made it up. Laugh about it and move on. It’s all in good fun. He was a Sailor, AND from Texas. This is the unholy love child between a Texas tall tale and a Navy sea story.

And he was a good sniper.

I notice nobody ever says he lied about anything overseas. And that’s really all that matters. The Jesse fight, the superdome, the carjacking. That’s all promotional fluff and has nothing to do with the war.

It might be true, of course, but it is just about the fishiest thing I have ever heard, right up there with somebody finding a girl and a Big Mac in Jared’s apartment.

What is this Silverdome story? That’s a new one for me.

I never heard that either. Maybe it was the domed stadium in New Orleans, and he purported to pick off looters after Katrina.

After our talk, I called the police chiefs of several towns along 67. Most of them had heard of the incident. One, speaking only on background, said he knew some of his men had at least seen the tape. But request after request provided no police reports and no tape.

No police report or investigation report of two people being shot to death in public?

Hmmm.

Just a wild crazy hunch, but I’d say some of people are getting caught up in the gunslinger/legend/Hollywood thing.

Sorry about that. I meant Superdome. My sciatica is flaring up, and I took something earlier for it. It must have affected me more than I thought. No more posting tonight for me.

Bet Chuck Norris was with him up on the Superdome roof. Looters never knew what hit them.

>>The Left is on the attack because the movie is so pro American<<

I think these little wusses are attacking an American hero (after his death) because they deep down loathe themselves for not being a strong, determined, manly man that goes out and protects others.

Something these lil pink panty wearing punks know nothing about nor would ever muster up the gonads as did this American hero...Chris Kyle.

Exactly.

And here’s one that we have all forgotten.

Bulletproof George Washington.

“This story of George Washington once appeared in virtually every student text in America, but hasn’t been seen in the last forty years.”

http://www.c4cg.org/bullet.htm

http://www.bible-reading.com/washington.html

http://www.cracked.com/article_20182_5-reasons-george-washington-was-either-lucky-or-wizard.html some rough language, but this writer takes this emotional.

Washington had two horses shot out under him. At the end of the battle, Washington had four bullets in his coat and none in his body. He also happened to be the only officer who wasn’t shot down.

“Years later, an Indian chief traveled to meet Washington. He recounted the battle, saying, “Our rifles were leveled, rifles which, but for you, knew not how to miss ... I am come to pay homage to the man ... who can never die in battle.””

And it goes on and on.

I think it was the PTSD that led him to make-up stories when he got home. He maybe didn’t even know he was doing it. I read another article that said that maybe since he was such a big hero during his time in the military, he felt the need to continue being the larger-than-life hero when he became a civilian.

Bingo! At its simplest, just another man who could not handle success and its expectations. We wanted a hero, we made a hero, his tragic end elevated his life to a God in a Greek play. Now let's run for cover as there are a LOT of keyboard commandos who only watch TV and they'll be coming with blood in their eyes.

Then again, never underestimate the stupidity of the average criminal mind. What there is of it.

But he does seem to have a penchant for tall tales.

Yep. No biggie to me. Many exaggerate stories. He might even have been screwing with the media. You never know.....probably a combo with some PTSD thrown in there. The Superdome is just too crazy to believe. Either way, he is awesome and I am proud to have seen the movie. God Bless him, his family, the military and the United States of America.

I saw the movie, I cried, a true American hero if ever there was one.
