Two days from today on Tuesday, January 20, President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address to the American people.
This will be the sixth year President Obama has given a State of the Union speech, and each year, President Obama and his staff have spent weeks getting ready for the big night.
But the State of the Union was not always the way we picture it today. Article Two of the Constitution mandates that the president compose an annual State of the Union message, but it does not state that the president must deliver that message verbally. So up until President Woodrow Wilson, most presidents just submitted their State of the Union address on paper for Congress to review -- many of them didn’t give a speech at all!
In fact, what we think of today as the “State of the Union address” wasn’t even called the “State of the Union” until the middle of the 20th century. President Franklin Roosevelt was the first president to refer to his speech as a “State of the Union” address, with most presidents following suit.

We haven’t watched that media circus since the 2010 address in which Obama insulted the Supreme Court to its face. Such disrespect to our system of government should not have been accepted by the Congress, and should have been the last time this unAmerican president was allowed to deliver a public State of the Union address.
We should go back to the president giving a printed summary of how the country is faring to the Congress, as was done in Jefferson’s time, instead of presidents blabbing in front of the cameras about how great the nation is doing under their leadership….which is a bald faced lie 99% of the time.

Well, we know the Republican side won’t turn their backs on 0 but while he is speaking, they could talk to each or pretend to, read a newspaper or other literature, laugh quietly as if someone told them a joke, actually, that should be easy, the jokes will be coming from 0.
In other words, totally ignore him and don’t even look at him. The one thing this megalomaniac can’t stand is being ignored.

The State of the Union Address is the most over-hyped, inconsequential speech in every single year. This one deserves no attention and should never have been allowed.
I hope Joe Wilson is practice his speech.
I am as ready as I will ever be. I haven’t watched him yet and this time tomorrow, I will still be able to say I haven’t watched him.
