The difference in your analogy is this: throughout human history, paganism and occult worship have been centered around earth worship.

That is why God so gravely warned us not to worship the creation, rather than the Creator. There is idolatry of all sorts, but humanity's biggest problem was not worshipping roofs, but the sun, stars, and the earth. God gave us those things, but they are not to be worshipped. The "climate change" crowd clearly is pagan in origen. "Climate change" is not even settled science! But that is what the pope chose to support in a very, very public way. That is why the pope's declaration smacks of paganism.

People are taking his statements lightly, but you are right, they ARE very serious, very deliberate statements that have the potential for very evil underpinnings to them- As I wrote above, I believe that climate change is the powerful delusion the bible speaks of, and I believe it will be the vehicle through which church and government are united for a time- and that is why this pope’s statements are so potentially dangerous- In the last few years, we have been witnessing a very powerful delusion being foisted on this world-, and for the pope to believe it and even endorse it, is very troubling indeed
