I hate sites that start playing ads you can’t shut off.
“I hate sites that start playing ads you cant shut off.”
Adblock — it works.
Seriously. I am with you on that 100%.
Won’t go to that website for that very reason and a few other sites as well.
Would be an interesting list, I am sure, but won’t go there.
Amen.
It's a "deal breaker" for me. I installed ad blocker extensions to the browser, and that put an end to some of it, particularly on lucianne.com, for example.
Still there are the flash accelerated videos and others that sneak in, sometimes scrolled way down a self-rendering new tab, sometimes a loud standard detergent-type television ad.
And the AP news shorts, or the self-loading side-bars with "The video you requested is loading," over the buffer... it's sharp stick in my eye, meant to provoke an emotional response.
Generally, if a website - like Breitbart, unfortunately, compels me to watch and hear an obnoxious video one after another, and has no squelch controls, no mute, no volume controls of any kind, then they are clearly aiming their message at another target audience, which is fine. They don't want my eyeballs.
By the way, what I've described is a pretty good picture of what the whole net will one day appear as if the net "neutrality" cronies have their way.
