Rommel studied NB Forrest moreso than any other American General. Blitzkrieg was designed after Forrest's tactics. I thought Heinz Guderian pioneered the blitzkrieg concepts. Rommel was an infantry officer.
There is ample documentation of this.

I read an interview with Rommel's son within the last couple of years where this issue was addressed. I have to agree that much has been fabricated as to Forrest's actions having been studied by Rommel and Guderian but the German War College were well aware of Forrest's tactics and taught them. Guderian integrated the tactics within Blitzkrieg.
