Of the top 100 actors of all time, only 8 are black. And one of them is Don Cheadle.
So how is it a surprise that some years, no blacks will make the list of the 5 best actors for one year?
I read that only 13% of the characters in movie/TV are black (which of course nearly matches the population, but it is seen as a “problem”). So that means again that it is a reasonable expectation that the top 5 might not include a black person.
Unless of course they want special treatment for minorities, like that you have to nominate at least one black person in either the male or female lead category each year, even if they don’t deserve it.
I just checked the IMDB list of the top 100 actresses of all time, and none of them are black.
I had trouble listing 10 black actresses, and felt bad until I did a google search, and found that even black web sites had to throw a bunch of no-name actresses, or singers who did a couple of movies (like Whitney Houston) just to fill out a top 25 list.
I didn’t even remember Whoopie Goldberg, who doesn’t appear in any of the lists I found. I think the black lists on the black web sites are mostly “hot women”, not “good actresses”.
no one would have considered this fiasco a FIrestorm untii Revrunt Sharpton smelled the money.
Few Id bet would even have noticed “it”.
