Rare Earth plated a show here in Tulsa back in the mid ‘70s when their drummer suddenly got sick. They were going to cancel the show, but one of the show’s sponsors was a local record store owner. He said he new all their songs and could fill in. He pulled it off and the show went without a hitch.
I was on the bill with them once in VA Beach and we opened the show with “I Just Want To Celebrate”. We thought they’d be gassed, but instead they were rather peed off.
