Without shutting down the government the Congress(ran now by Republicans which we had to have!) will surrender with all the speed of a French Army division and the following excuse will be tendered—we must control the White House, without it we are powerless, mark my words. If these hapless boobs should win the White House the next excuse will be we don’t have enough votes to override the 60 vote rule in the senate.
