I think people are making way too much of this.

All the guy was trying to say is that while it might be legal to make fun of another religion, it is not polite. And we should be polite.

I agree we should attempt when possible to live peaceable with all mean, but I can't find a Biblical commandment to be polite. If I am wrong, can someone please show me chapter and verse on this?

I'm a little tired of Christianity meaning going around with a pious smile and never offending anyone.... ever... or else you aren't Christian. A lot of folks in the Bible (John the Baptist, Jesus dealing with the pharisees, Elijah etc. had all the subtlety of a nine-pound sledge. It's getting to the point you can quote what the Bible says on most subjects and people reel back in horror with someone akin to :”How dare you say that, that's not nice and Christians should be nice.”

Matthew 5:39 - “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”

Romans 12:14 - “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.”

Matthew 5 - “Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
He said:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Need more?

Note that being polite does not mean not offending.

I agree. Jesus publically insulted the religious leaders when he told them, "You are of your father, the Devil."

"An open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed." Proverbs 27:5
