Romney is a true lefty, to the left of everyone, and he has a lifetime showing just that, Romney actually left the republican party because of Reagan, and eventually became a democrat supporter, fund raiser, and voter.
Even when he became a republican again to run for office in October of 1993, he ran as an anti-Reagan/Bush republican.
This is the REAL Mitt Romney on illegals.
My jaw dropped when I saw Mitt denying his illegals in the 2007 debate, and was not surprised what came of it a week later (well, surprised but not totally shocked).
Governor Mitt and wife Ann, were interacting with the Guatemalan illegals at their private home for 10 years. The landscaper that the illegals worked for, was a naturalized Colombian himself, personally chosen by Mitt, (A naturalized Colombian, Guatemalan illegals, and a sitting Governor during 4 years of that period), IDs better have been checked.
In December of 2006, the republican Governor was exposed, and suffered national embarrassment for using illegals for 10 years.
In December of 2007, in a national debate, Rudy Giuliani accused Mitt Romney of having run a “Sanctuary Mansion”. On national TV, Mitt Romney indignantly denied the claim.
A few days after the debate, the Boston Globe decided to look again at Mitt’s house, and guess what, they found Guatemalan illegals, they were working for the same Colombian, MITT HAD NEVER FIRED THEM!
Ten years and a national scandal, turned into 11 years, and into a second national scandal, with all the same players, the same “contractor”, Guatemalan illegals, and the same Mitt Romney and his wife interacting with them at their home during the week.
Everything you say about Romney and illegals is true, but he is still to the right of Bush on the issue.
Bush is in 100% agreement with Obama and wants to give them all amnesty asap.
Romney actually managed to position himself to the right of Perry on the issue during the last campaign, and Perry is way to the right of Bush on the issue.
I am not saying vote for Romney. I am just saying on this particular issue Bush is in complete agreement with the far left and wants complete amnesty for all illegals here.
Let me put it this way:
If there was a spectrum from left to right on the issue of illegals.
on the far far left would be La Raza who wants to give the entire US southwest back to mexico.
Then there are all the amnesty lovers just to the right of them including Obama, McCain, Bush, Rubio, Pelosi, ect who would love to grant citizenship to any and all illegal here or who come here in the future. They LOVE illegals and for some reason think they will save our country! lol
Then in the middle are people like Perry who think we should at least treat the children of the illegals humanely, and who think we should protect our border more and certainly deport asap any and all criminal illegals, and possibly give a pathway to citizenship to certain illegals if they do _______ (pay a fine, go home first,ect). But they oppose a fence and blanket deportation of millions.
Then to the right of them are people like Romney who want to crack down on illegals even more, are willing to build a fence, don’t want amnesty but might agree to some sort of system where illegals are allowed to work here for a certain time with a work permit, would cut benefits to illegals as much as the courts will allow, but would stop short of mass roundups and would instead prefer something like “self deportation” ect.
Then to the right of them are people like Cruz who who advocate deporting them all, building a fence, and might actually entertain the notion of mass roundups.
Then to the right of them are people the think we should mine the border.
