Hi Publius, would appreciate your take on the mandate.

The mandate exists. The problem is that the Left still has enough votes in the Senate to stop it. If the president is impeached, which he should be, the Left has enough votes to acquit him.

Clinton would have taken his lumps in this election, backtracked, triangulated, and then found a new course. But Clinton was a skilled politician. Obama is an ideologue. He will continue to double down and dare Congress to shut down the government to stop him. So many people are dependent on government payouts that a shutdown would be political suicide.

People who are highly political want this president stopped, while the greater mass of the people simply want the current system to continue. Principle is not a major item to most people.
