Possibly Meryl Streep would be willing to give her nomination up, since she has already won an Oscar, to allow a black to be nominated in her place. After all, she didn’t earn that and it is only fair that the Oscars are subject to redistribution of fame.
Sharpton is going to make a joke of blacks who win Oscars, people will start to think blacks get an award just because their black. It will diminish any achievement for the black actors. Sharpton is doing them no favor with this non-sense. I guess Hollywood can ensure all black actors are awarded gold plated Kewpie dolls.
Has the Motion Picture Academy confirmed that a black actress is next on the list?
As I recall they have some sort of straw poll for the first phase - directors vote for best director (picture?), leading actresses vote for leading actress, supporting actresses vote for supporting actresses, etc.
