Decision to put cartoon of prophet on front cover condemned as first edition since Paris attacks is instant sellout.
Muslims have reacted warily to Charlie Hebdo’s defiant cover depicting the prophet Muhammad.
The French satirical weekly was accused of deliberately mocking the Islamic faith and warned that it could fuel further sectarian unrest.
French Muslim leaders appealed for calm after the cover of the magazine’s special edition, which was an instant sellout on Wednesday with long queues forming at newsstands across France, was leaked ahead of publication.
“They’re free to publish what they like but it affects us, it’s going to hurt us a lot,” a Muslim woman identified as Salya told France Info radio from outside a mosque in Clichy-La-Garenne, a Paris suburb inhabited by many Muslims originally from north Africa.
Outside France, Muslim leaders condemned the weekly’s decision to put a cartoon of the prophet back on the cover....

It’s funny that Christian leaders don’t have to “appeal for calm” when material offensive to Christians is published.
Did anybody get killed or attacked over Piss Christ?? Or over the statue of the virgin Mary covered in dung???
I think some people called the museums and left voice messages that sounded upset ... and the Catholic League issued a statement that verged on rude.

Images of Mo’Ham, the pig in a turban should be plastered everywhere.
This just shows how weak and cowardly members of the Muslim faith are. People who are insecure about their faith lash out at the slightest provocation.
People who are strong and secure in their faith are not agitated to the point of violence by criticisms.

This is an interesting idea. If all you have is a pig in a turban ... especially if he’s cute ... then what’s so “offensive”? Moslems aren’t the only people who wear turbans.

I haven’t seen the cover, but if mohammed is crying and holding a Je suis Charlie sign, dis it suppose to mean he supposedly would be crying over the murders and the backwardness and hatefulness of his followers?
And if they know they will be offended, they SHOULD NOT LOOK!!!
I notice that the Guardian & Observer ran the article with NO PICTURES.
It’s easy to avoid “offensive” Mohammed material, because it’s so rare. It’s harder to avoid intentional insults to Christians, Jews, or Mormons.
(If any media outlet has a percentage in denigrating Hindus or Buddhists, it must be confined to Asia.)
