Actually, this may be a chance to get one of those 1911-shaped mail boxes. I doubt
anyone could steal it. I’ve wanted one since the first time I saw it here on FR.

When the state repaved Hwy 1 in front of my house, federal money involved, they knocked down everybody's mailbox and replaced them with little plastic ones and a piece of thin 1 1/2 inch pipe.
The mailboxes leak, the pipe only goes 2 feet into the ground, reason given is that it won't damage cars that hit them too badly (For safety).
Oh, you can't use cement to hold them in the ground straight.

Now everybody has the same little crappy mailboxes that are always leaning over one way or the other.

I'm still pi$$ed about that, thanks again government :)
