I don’t understand why people think being of some racial background they automatically “have a temper” or like it’s somehow expected that it’s alomst a justification for them going off on stuff essentially whites would have no basis to claim as a reason in their european background.

I mean, I have German, Russian and Italian in my background and I don’t use that as a reason why my temper is or isn’t what it is. Besides everyone will say in the end the people they come from are a hot blooded people, fiery, passionate, etc etc.

I think people live up to the stereotype, if anything. It has nothing to do with genetics. I think many like the idea of blaming their heritage as the reason they have a hot temper as a way to excuse behavior they couldn’t get away with normally. And have everyone else accomodate them because “you know that’s how those people are”.

Being passionate is not bad of itself. It depends on just how one uses that passion. I knew people who put great passion into being a jerk. It just made them a worse jerk.

Those said to have Latin tempers are generally Caucasian-as in “white” and whose ancestors were descended in large part from the Romans-as in “Latin”, and who speak Latin based languages-Spain, Italy and France.

It refers to those of that ancestry in general, probably because the French, Italian and Spanish do have a reputation for bloody deeds ever since the Romans came there-a few thousand years. I rather doubt it has to do with genetics, but rather to three ethnic groups that learned the value of a scary temper when it comes to vengeance and intimidation-as in organized crime like the mafia, really bloody revolutions and the Spanish liking for enslaving and inquisitions.

None of that is an excuse for anything, and I’ve never heard of a Latin temper defense, which would be laughable-but emotions are usually close to the surface for those of Latin ancestry, for whatever reason.

My ancestors came to Mexico from Spain in the 16th century-MrT5’s ancestors came to Quebec, Canada shortly thereafter. His temper was just as Latin as mine-just as bad, just that he was a Frog. I’ve used my Latin temper to advantage to protect my husband or kid from someone, or to keep myself from being screwed by someone who thought I’m “just a woman”-and I won’t apologize for it.

Ever noticed that of the three races of humans it is Caucasians who go nuclear the most, Latin or not? Blacks and Asians are slower to anger-Asians seem more prone to quietly take vengeance and keep quiet about it, and Blacks are more inclined to do the same, but later, and not quietly-and liberals have taught them to claim victimhood as a reason for their bad deeds...
