Four people were shot, three critically, during an attempted robbery at a gun store in a Kansas City, Missouri, suburb on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
An owner of She's A Pistol LLC gun store in Shawnee, Kansas, was critically wounded as were two of four people suspected of trying to rob the store, Major Dan Tennis of the Shawnee Police Department told a news conference.
Tennis said a female store owner was punched and injured in the incident. Two other suspects were able to flee the store, one of whom was also wounded, but surrendered to authorities at a house nearby, he said.
"There was a big gun battle, lots of shots fired," Tennis said.

It was Willie Sutton, a famous bank robber of his time, in te 1950’s as I recall.
“Why do you rob banks?”
“That’s where the money is.”
There were 4 shooters/killers. 2 were in the store critically injured when police arrived. 2 had escaped and made it a couple blocks away, shedding clothing as they went. 1 of those was also shot but not injured badly. They were caught when a neighbor saw them on her screened in porch or garage.
What kind of idiot tries to rob a gun store?
Roger that. Around here just about everyone working in a gun storeis is sporting an open sidearm in a holster and has a couple of shotguns strategically hidden behind the counters.
From the video it looks like there was a shotgun involved.
What is that from?
Darwin awards!
They will be on the security cameras. Has anyone seen photos yet?
Surely more details on the weapons will come out soon
Unfortunately the owner has died.
There was 1 photo of 1 of the 2 who escaped being loaded into an ambulance, handcuffed in back. Looked to be under 25 and darker complected, hard to positively determine ethnicity from that short shot.
Jon Bieker. He was 44
The shooting happened about 2:10 p.m. Friday at She's a Pistol, located at 5725 Nieman Rd. when four men tried to rob the store. It is a personal protection and self-defense training, services and supplies company.
Police said the male store owner was shot. Jon Bieker was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died. Two would-be robbers suffered critical injuries in an apparent shootout with the owners. Maj. Dan Tennis with the Shawnee Police Department said two other men ran from the store.
While searching for the other two suspects, police got a call from a resident at West 58th Street and Bluejacket Avenue who said that someone was on her back porch, knocking on her door. Police went to the address where they found the other two suspects, one of whom was found with a gunshot injury. That third robbery suspect is expected to be OK.
Bieker's wife, Becky, was not shot, but was punched in the face and body. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Looks like birdshot from about 5 yards.
Jim Allen, a member of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners who operates an insurance agency near the shooting location, spoke with a witness shortly afterward.
She said she saw three individuals walking in wearing hoodies, Allen said. She said she had been suspicious because they had parked on the side of the building. One of them was carrying a duffel bag.

I’ve looked at about ten reports of this incident, and none has photos of the perps, though all are known at this time. So what does that tell us?
I might try and BURGLE a gun store at night, while it was closed, to steal guns and ammo. But rob it in the day, while it is open, to steal money? That is some dumb plan.
“Debbie cant talk right now.”
One time I was sorely tempted to do that gag on a wrong number, but it was a secure line, so...
