Just finished watching Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, one of the greatest westerns of all times. Vividest scene is Liberty Valance and his goons trashing Peabody’s newspaper for making fun of him, stuffing his own copy down his throat to make him “eat his words”. Right afterwards, Rans Stoddard faces him down and against all odds walks away alive, with Valance lying dead in the street. France believes in civility and reason in the face of barbarism. When the fanatically civilized strap on a gun and go hunting for the thugs, it gives one hope.

Fox News shows that video every year on 9/11 and make a point of saying they will do so, so people don’t forget. They have a video of a fairly accurate summary of events that happened that day they show every year. Hard to watch, but a good reminder.

Despite the running joke of "cheese eating French surrender monkeys", dear old dad always said from his WW2 experience that individual French were tough as nails. Their government, not so much.

I have several 8-hour video tapes from 9/11 that I recorded. I kept the VCR running 24/7 for days, going back and forth between news networks getting coverage. I still break out tape #1 each year to watch. I cry every time, just as I did that day.

FOX is right that people don’t need to forget, though it sure seems like a lot of folks have.
