An officer was seriously injured in an Thursday attack, less than 24 hours after three masked men killed 12 people at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. It is unclear whether the shootings are related as authorities hunt for two suspected terrorist brothers.

Maybe the theory that if the police are unarmed the crooks won't carry isn't quite right.

was not armed at the time of the attack. She was shot in the back with an automatic rifle when she responded to a predawn traffic accident,
