Flood of Anti-Boehner Calls Rattles Leadership
The Washington Examiner ^ | Wednesday, January 7, 2015 | Susan Ferrechio

It wasn’t the Republican votes against House Speaker John Boehner that truly rattled the GOP leadership, it was the phone calls.

There were hundreds of them, jamming the phone lines of the district and Capitol offices of dozens of House GOP lawmakers.

The callers were not angry about legislation. Nor were they asking for help with a local matter. They were demanding their representative vote against Boehner Tuesday in his bid to win election to a third term as speaker.

For the GOP leadership, the flood of calls was a game changer. It thrusted the leadership into triage mode as it scrambled to heal the growing rift among House Republicans.

“We’ve never been lobbied quite like that,” House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday. “We yesterday began a new era of circumstances, and one is that we have members who are going to solicit the outside in ways that they have not previously.”

Boehner was so agitated by the phone calls that he raised the issue to his rank and file in a private meeting Wednesday morning, those in the room reported.

I’m guessing the frauds, the fake conservatives won’t be having any local
Town Hall Meetings anytime soon. They are hiding behind their DC Lobbyist
friends in DC.

Plus most are allergic to tar and feathers.

Morons...

They better get our message.

4 million stayed home because of Romney wasn't Conservative enough or whatever, and John McCain would have his @$$ handed to him even worse in 08' If Sarah Palin didn't bring him in 13 Million votes.

if Boehner keeps cow-towing to K-Street and tries to quash us the political decedents of Buckley, Goldwater and Reagan, he can expect to loose the House and Senate and the POTUS in 16' because so many of us are done with them and their shannigans.

Yes I don't play well with others, I will not bend over and vote for Jeb, Bobby Bacala or Joe Isuzu in 16', I'd rather stay home.

Stop treating us like the ugly step child, we are your base, and without us you are nothing..

I tried to call the Republican National Committee on this issue, but they do not have a phone number listing. Just like MSNBC, CNBC,etc.

I’ve called Boehner’s office daily since Tuesday. I think we all should continue letting him know how we feel. I told him our country was founded by people like those that voted again against him and he needs to stop retaliating before voters get really mad. 202-225-0600

WTF does that mean, is that another word for constituents or taxpayers?

If Boehner is confident enough to lay a big one on Pelosi, he is not rattled.

I called my rep and told him to vote against Boehner. He voted for him anyway.

Bout time for me to get a new rep I think.

Yup. Me too. The staffer who took my call tried to shrug it off as a "robo-call". I assured him that it was anything but. Note the Facebook page for congressman Frank Lucas (Disappointment - OK) shows that I'm not the only one dissatisfied with him. I doubt he even reads the comments. Got the Potomac disease he has.

The fact that they elected him anyway shows their complete and total disregard for the voters they are supposed to represent and their slavish subservience to the big money donors who call the shots for them. I don’t know if a third party would make any difference. After about 10 minutes they would be taken to the woodshed by the money guys and we’d be right back where we are again. Term limits may be the only solution. Two terms in office. Ten years in prison.

“For the GOP leadership, the flood of calls was a game changer.”

It will be only if we all follow through and vote against the ones who sided with Boner. It is increasingly apparent that the GOP will have to be replaced because the entrenchment of the GOPE is so pervasive that we will never take control of it directly. Sadly, it means that the country will remain under RAT control for at least another decade and I worry that within that timeframe, the RATS will succeed in destroying America as we know it.

‘“We’ve never been lobbied quite like that,”’

And yet, they voted him in anyway. Does anybody need any further proof of how they are not listening?

My congresswoman Vicky Hartzler voted for Boehner, as she always does. Pretty sure it was her desire to chair a committee that motivated her sellout. Time to let her know I won’t be supporting her next time.

“We yesterday began a new era of circumstances, and one is that we have members who are going to solicit the outside in ways that they have not previously.”

How's it feel to be "the outside"? That comment has been starting to really annoy me - it's one thing for us to notice a certain Us And Them attitude among the political class but it's quite another to have them rub our noses in it. "Solicit the outside in ways that they have not done previously"? What the hell is that, "listen to our constituents, which we have not been doing"?

No, liberty is not made for us: we are too ignorant, too vain, too presumptuous, too cowardly, too vile, too corrupt, too attached to rest and to pleasure, too much slaves to fortune to ever know the true price of liberty. We boast of being free! To show how much we have become slaves, it is enough just to cast a glance on the capital and examine the morals of its inhabitants.

Jean-Paul Marat, who also said:

I believe in the cutting off of heads.

In two years, you will all fall in line. These guys know it.

Not this guy. The C fo C and the crony capitalists can lie in the Liz Warren/Bernie Sanders bed they've created as far as I'm concerned.

Once they've had their fill of that they'll come groveling and we'll try again.

“I called my rep and told him to vote against Boehner. He voted for him anyway.”

Same here. I had high hopes for my rep — doctor, Iraq War vet, conservative (supposedly), just re-elected to his second term. Guess just one term and the RINO poison got to him.

If it was a game changer then they'd be discussing how to change. It was a circle-the-wagons-till-it-blows-over moment.
