It wasnt the Republican votes against House Speaker John Boehner that truly rattled the GOP leadership, it was the phone calls.
There were hundreds of them, jamming the phone lines of the district and Capitol offices of dozens of House GOP lawmakers.
The callers were not angry about legislation. Nor were they asking for help with a local matter. They were demanding their representative vote against Boehner Tuesday in his bid to win election to a third term as speaker.
For the GOP leadership, the flood of calls was a game changer. It thrusted the leadership into triage mode as it scrambled to heal the growing rift among House Republicans.
Weve never been lobbied quite like that, House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday. We yesterday began a new era of circumstances, and one is that we have members who are going to solicit the outside in ways that they have not previously.
Boehner was so agitated by the phone calls that he raised the issue to his rank and file in a private meeting Wednesday morning, those in the room reported.

BS. They have not learned anything. The lying, self-serving scoundrels. They lie to their voters during campaigns and then go and do exactly the opposite of what the voters wanted.
They’re surprised!!! WTHeck?? You were just elected in a massive wave election!! And you’re surprised? Man, if I did my job as poorly as these GOP representatives, I’d been fired.
“So what precisely did boehner have to offer as a plan?”
To new members- vote for me - or the RNC will gerrymander you at re-election time, cut off funding for re-election campaign. In the meantime you will not be on any commitees, we will defund any monies to your district, then make the rest of your stay in DC a living hell.
Or vote for me and enjoy the next few years.
Who do you tink your reps are more afraid of, you or the GOPe/RNC?
My Rep Dave Bratt who knocked off Cantor....voted against Boehner! He’s off to a good start!
And the phone calls should continue, intensify and become more strident until the GOP listens to us, the American People. We shouldn’t just complain to each other. Make them hear and pay attention!
After the vote Tuesday, Louie Gohmert (R-TX), one of Boner’s challengers, was on Sean Hannity’s radio program. He said some Congressmen received 850 - 1,000 calls telling them to vote against Boner. But, they disregarded the wishes of their constituents and voted to return the Speaker’s gavel to his hand. They need to be watched and their actions recorded for the next 18 months, and then be Primaried, and defeated, in 2016.
I think he was saying that we will see more Congress critters asking for, and listening to, suggestions from their constituents.
This is the statement he made that I didn’t understand:
They learned a lesson, Sessions said. And we did, too.
What was the lesson, and who is “they” and who is “we”?
So shut your racist faces and go pay your taxes - your government is broke.

That really did make me LOL.
That letter is AWESOME!!!
People should prank call Boehners office every 5 minutes for the rest of the year.

Awesome idea. It will not be easy to organize it and orchestrate such an endeavor, but, it’s nice to know that I am not the only vindictive person on FR. LOL.... “HE WHO DOES NOT LIKE REVENGE HAS NEVER TASTED IT!”
From Rush's caller, quoted in another FR thread:
He not only voted for the cromnibus that funded Obama's illegal activities until next October, he also negotiated behind closed doors and then threw it on the clerk's desk 48 hours before the vote so nobody else had a chance to see what was in it. So he's disgraced himself. He's got to go.
[I deleted the part about who would be best to replace him.]
Boehner lied to the entire House on H.R. 5759 when HE REWROTE IT and in the middle of the night.
Actually all those calls were from people that discovered their gasoline was so cheap, thanks to OB, that they wanted to pay more in the form of gasoline taxes. The GOPe responded by starting the process to raise gasoline taxes.
Way to go callers, keep those phones ringing.
The quote Rush gave, from Politico, was that we have enough votes now that the fringe Congressmen can go their own way, and we wont be affected. (from memory). They may want to consider that the TP can look at it the same way in 16 - if we primary someone and it causes a loss to a Democrat, what do we lose???
