I disagree. Guts need to be applied to exterminating the serial killers who perpetrate this kind of thing. There is no glory in printing the cartoons. They were tacky and rude, intentionally so. The designers did not deserve death. Neither does that obligate everyone else to be tacky and rude.
I may defend the right of the liberal to say what he/she says. That does not mean that I will repeat it. Same for any other speech. Murder is wrong. That does not obligate me to embrace the speech.
“Tacky and rude” (based on opinion) is not a reason to not print them.
In my estimation the entire point of being politically correct is to avoid offending the easily offended and thus sparking some form of angry response.
In other words conflict avoidance at all cost.
Ergo the gutless, spineless, cowardly wimps will never publish the cartoons.
Reporting (by showing) the cartoons does not equal “embracing” them, and the act of reporting is not necessarily “tacky and rude.” In fact, I believe not reporting it by showing them is simply an act of cowardice.
