Im glad theres a moderate Democrat finally running for president. I just wish he were running on the Democratic ticket. Jeb Bush, a likely Republican presidential candidate, called for respect of same-sex marriages on Monday as his home state of Florida began allowing gays to wed following a court ruling.
Bush, a former governor of Florida, said in a statement that even those like him who oppose same-sex marriage must respect the rule of law now that the states ban on gay marriages has been ruled unconstitutional. Do you know what else is the law of the land? ObamaCare. So I assume Jeb will ask us to respect the rule of law on that too!
When a gay marriage was against the rule of law, did the other side respect it...?

isn’t that redundant?
The rule of lawwould be following, and enforcing, the laws (and the constitutional amendments) made by the People or their representatives.
Laying down for courts with no authority rendering lawless and increasingly crazy decisions is most certainly NOT the rule of law. Its rule by lawyers, which is not the same thing at all.
The Governor of Florida is a coequal authority with his state courts, and as the only one who has taken an oath to faithfully execute the peoples laws is arguably superior to Article III courts, at least those established by Congress.
This is the time for open defiance, not AGAINST the rule of law but in recognition that defiance of immoral and unconstitutional orders IS the rule of law
In Jeb Bush’s world, I wonder if they would view Corrie ten Boom as a “Law Breaker” that deserved persecution aiding and abetting Jews...
Great point!
The courts have taken a warped view of what is supposed to be the supreme law of the land and turned it into warped nonsense.
I guess in some weird way you could call it rule of law but it’s like calling a hall of funhouse mirrors a gallery of elegant images.
Someone needs to bell the cat.
By the way, I have great respect for your namesake. Without him, Western culture would look a lot different these days.
Well he didn’t “say” it to her but that was the reason he gave the public for letting her be killed.
Unless you call denying someone water and food to be something else.
Jeb, you marxist little puke, if the “rule of law” is so precious, then tell me about DOMA, Benghazi, IRS, Lois Lerner, Fast and Furious,...
I don’t favor him for President and his recent statement leaves me cold. However, he did everything legally available to him in trying to prevent the killing of Terry Schiavo. It was not till the state had lost numerous times that Jeb Bush conceded there was no hope of the courts agreeing to stopping the removal of Terry Schiavo’s feeding tube.
Why do you think Michale Schiavo is speaking against Jeb Bush?
“I think (I may be mistaken) that most Americans who immigrated here legally from Mexico (or were here before their land became part of the United States) really, really don’t like people sneaking in here illegally.”
In my experience you’re mistaken. I know plenty of Mexican-Americans with close family that are illegals and none of them seem upset about it. They usually think that sneaking across the border is the only sensible thing for them to do.
If the vast majority would simply not accept the so called rule of law, it might still be legal, but more than uncomfortable for those who engage in the so called marriages...
asinine statement...
if he doesn't, we'll have president Hillary...take your choice like the Republicans did the last two elections....pathetic.
third party from me unless there is a conservative choice with an (R) next to their name. I’m done with the BS GOP-e
great idea...the Demo's love it...they won't go third party and a third party vote is every bit as effective as a Democrat vote....every bit.
so be it. at this point every vote for a republican is a vote for a democrat... What’s your point?
So let me get this straight, for the 3rd Presidential election in a row you are willing to vote for the “lesser of 2 evils”? Have you learned nothing? If we had a conservative third party back in 2008 by now it would most likely be a viable 3rd party instead of pessimists like yourself saying, “voting 3rd party isa losing battle and will give the election to the democrats”
I voted for Romney....you can't say with a straight face, that Romney would have been as bad as Obama.....or are you so wrapped up in your disillusionment that you can no longer see reality.....sad.
Go Jeb, may the GOP go the way of the Whigs.
Time to collapse this disaster and reboot.
