Ya’ll understand that the media feeds off of Rush’s statements...and he has to operate quite differently than the others mentioned. He discussed it to frame the debate and let people form their own decisions to act (ie call congress). Rush is the news story if he runs with it, and that’s not necessarily the way this needs to happen. I didn’t catch all of his show yesterday, but heard some.

If Rush made the statements Levin made, it would become the headline of every media outlet.

He has done an incredible job over the years to maintain dicipline where he avoids real damage. Discussion of Romney’s campaign in the primaries last time for example. It was clear he was against it, but he gave the media nothing to work with to divide the party from the outside. His only real screw up in recent years was overplaying the Fluck situation. He was having fun with it and took it too far so he became the story.

Limbaugh is a brilliant strategist and to be able to do it in a talk radio format puts him in a subset of very few.

Great analysis but IMHO he is the only one that could shock this into real change, and he never does. Kind of like Lieberman could have ask Al Gore not to put us through the 33 days from Hell and he didn’t. To me this is that much of a tipping point.
