Whoa!

I certainly meant money is NOT necessary to dressing appropriately

Crazy, I go, when people say ‘oh the dress code to thus thing or that can’t can’t be jacket and tie’, The troops can’t afford ... What? A blue sport coat lasts for what? Twenty years if it’s not worn a lot. A tie is how much? At tjmaxx or goodwill

How can anyone dream of any kind of earning power or success if they can’t figure out how to get a black skirt and a pair of black pumps and put them in a closet and get hold of a decent coat and take care of it. Hang it up and do what my father used to tell us to do ad nauseum ‘keep your hands out of your pockets

Oy

I knew what you meant.

My Dad grew up very poor in the Depression, with a widowed mother caring for him, his sister and their grandmother. His local public high school required the students (boys) attend school with coats, ties and shined leather shoes. His mother was able to do this, and indeed, thought it was a good and normal requirement.

Imagine such a requirement (or nearly any standard) in a public city high school today?
