A new proposal in Oklahoma would bar drunk drivers from buying or consuming alcohol -- and already is raising concerns over how it would be enforced.
Fox 25 in Oklahoma City reports that state Sen. Patrick Anderson is proposing a bill that would allow a judge to enforce the alcohol restrictions on anyone with a DUI charge for a set period of time.

Aren't other drugs legal there, like all drugs?
All excellent points. Thanks for taking time to present them!
The biggest problem from cellphone drivers would appear to be holding that piece to the head and even moreso dialing, texting, viewing a map/driving directions on the internet on that little phone.
Hands free is more akin to a conversation with someone who is in the car.
I’ve witnessed numerous drivers who are on a cellphone holding the phone to their left ear with their right hand and making a one handed left turn (sometimes into on-coming traffic) with their left hand on the wheel.
Holland has allowed some drugs to be sold over the counter (pot, mushrooms too although there was talk of removing those). The drugs couldn’t be processed (that would eliminate the hashoil candybars and suckers that concentrate the active ingredients).
Heroin was still illegal (and sold on the streets by violent thugs) as was cocaine.
I don’t know Sweden’s drug policy.
People wonder sometimes what I be thinkin,
My approval ratings are low and they just keep on sinkin.
Its enough to drive a drinkin man back to drinkin,
So I grab a 40 and go sit by my man, Lincoln.

Another unconstitutional idea that will go nowhere.
They will have a bunch of 40, 50 and 60 year olds with fake IDs.
It is for sure in Texas, also, no early release from probation for DWI.
OTOH, if on probation for robbery/assault, then early release is possible.
Probation is in lieu of a jail sentance.
Ron White: “I had one DWI, which was a bogus charge, cause it turns out they were stopping every driver, traveling down that particular sidewalk. And that’s profiling. And profiling is wrong!”
My wife was falsely accused of a DUI. I was in the car with her so I know it was false.
After $22k and a year and a half she got her full acquittal and the Judge threatened to contact the Bar on the prosecutors. The officers involved were reprimanded.
(Oh, she spent 13 hours in jail, too, even though I had already bailed her out before she arrived at the station.)
For her, $22k and her name was more important than the plea deal they kept pressuring her with.
If this bill passes and she had accepted that plea deal then she would not be able to purchase alcohol in OK?
Unbelievably stupid.
Alcohol prohibition is standard boilerplate on probation and release on bail, regardless of the underlying charge.
Do you know if there is any enforcement, or is it if you are caught during any other “event”, it is an additional charge piled against you?
Thanks, I had not heard that before.
If you were to get stopped and they ran your license they would know. Even if you were not intoxicated by the .08 rule, you could still get a violation of probation charge. So even if you were a passenger, if they knew you were on probation they could have you blow and you could not refuse as that is a condition of probation.
Does this mean stores that sell alcoholic beverages will have to ID all customers? Currently they only have to ID those who look to be underage. In Texas if you look to be under 27, the clerk is required to make you produce an ID to prove you are 21 or older. I actually got carded when I was 40. I still look considerably younger than the calendar says I am, but no one ever asks me anymore for an ID when buying alcohol. I don’t think retailers are going to like having to look at every customer’s ID every time a customer buys alcohol. I often buy beer or wine at a supermarket, and it can be a hassle to go through the self serve checkout, because as soon as I scan an alcoholic beverage, someone has to verify that I look old enough to buy them and then enter a code to unblock the self-checkout terminal. It would be an even bigger pain if I had to actually show my ID.
Thanks!
I don’t doubt that story, a friend of mine, so he tells me, had a real low level of alcohol but got caught at a checkpoint and had a suspended license for 6 months to a year. Catching drivers in that manner, I’m not too sure about. L
Wow, what’s up with Oklahoma? Weren’t they the one with a bill that would cause a $500 dollar fine for wearing a hoodie? Tyrants.
You do the crime you do the time and what comes with it. I like this law a lot. If you get one DUI, you should lose your driving privileges for life. Unfortunately our country is so soft and we need our rights.....spit.
Im sure illegals without licenses will still be allowed to buy alcohol.
Obviously if the stores don’t have anything to prove they were drunks.
