Twenty five years ago a friend looking to buy a house in SE Pennsylvania used a compass to draw circles on a map around the gibsmedat hives; he then told his wife she could look for homes anywhere outside of those circles.
Today his house has appreciated nicely, and they are nowhere in sight; he lives in a suburb, but must have used a wide radius for those circles...
