It needs to be stated, loudly (this requires Rush to act tomorrow, as our loudest voice) that any GOP members voting for any Speaker candidate who wins with Rat votes shall be considered Democrats, not Republicans, by the 2016 GOP primary electorate. Palin, and any other national figures associated with primary challenges need to stress the same. Not all the RINOs will be intimidated, but some will be. Meanwhile keep hitting the media current theme that some in the leadership, and those who support them, are racist. It may inhibit some democrats from crossing over. At some point they’ll stop defending Boehner and try to slip an alternate RINO through. I find it unlikely that ALL 188 Rats would be willing to vote to save Boehner as they’d fear being primaried for it. With 246 total current GOP votes (after the NY resignation cost Boehner a vote), most of whom were elected claiming to be conservative, and the recent heavily anti-Boehner polling, we do have significant leverage. Alas, probably not enough to elect Speaker Gomert, but enough to get a speaker who owes us something.

In a sense, even Bohner is out and another RINO wins, we win, because Bohner has been punished for his treachery.

This isn’t true. The Clerk of the House of Representatives requests nominations: there are normally two, one from each major party (each party will have previously met to decide on its nominee). The Clerk then calls the roll of the Representatives-elect, each Representative-elect indicating the surname of the candidate he or she is supporting. Representatives-elect are not restricted to voting for one of the nominated candidates and may vote for any person, even for someone who is not a member (or member-elect) of the House at all. They may also abstain by voting “present”.

I agree. And any replacement RINO would back stab more cautiously because of this. One important point I don’t know is how easy it would be to change Speakers during a Congressional term, as opposed to starting that term. It would be nice to have the threat of further change sitting over whomever.

“But do you really expect democrats to vote for Boehner?”........

ABSOLUTELY! The demodummies have lost control of congress by shear numbers after the Nov. elections. They can still have great influence as to who the next speaker will be and I would put lots of money of their voting for Bohner. He (Bohner) has demonstrated time and again that he is the demodummies best friend on the rino side of the aisle.

Your description of the process is in error. The actual procedure is explained in many posts and on numerous web sites.
