29 CONSERVATIVES CAN OUST BOEHNER AS SPEAKER
Breitbart ^ | January, 2, 2015 | By DANIEL HOROWITZ

Posted on 01/02/2015 2:59:14 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Conservatives have grown used to being a minority in Washington, irrespective of which party controls the White House and Congress. But on Tuesday, January 6, a group of just 29 conservatives will have perhaps its only opportunity to change the course of history and drive the direction of the country.

It would only require 29 House members to depose current Speaker John Boehner. With this leverage, conservatives could negotiate significant reforms from a successor who emerges on a second or third ballot, thereby restoring the mandate given to them by the electorate on November 4.

Tuesday will be a profound time for choosing, and given the way Obama has ostensibly overturned the results of the midterm elections, the Speaker’s election could prove more impactful than the votes cast at the ballot box.

We are not living through ordinary times; we are experiencing a constitutional crisis – one in which the sitting president has threatened to remake our immigration system and other fundamental laws, traditions, and values through executive fiat.

Yet, at the same time, the leader of the Republican-controlled House has admitted to giving the president the green light to implement executive amnesty. More broadly, he has demonstrated time and again that he will pass votes with Democrat support and whip votes together with Obama to avoid fighting the president on the fundamental issues of our time.

At this critical juncture, the few dozen conservatives in the House have two options.

They can allow themselves and the 2014 electorate to remain disenfranchised, helplessly standing by while Boehner passes crucial legislation on amnesty, budget bills, Obamacare, and debt ceiling increases with Democrat support. Or they can seize control of their own destiny by using the first vote of this Congress – the only vote for which Boehner cannot relyon Democrat support...

Yeah, Livingston from La.

Bob Livingston. Thanks now that I can put a name to the face maybe I will get to sleep.

There was another of Newt's inner circle who was about to take the Speaker Job and had to resign for other reasons, do you remember who that was?

Maybe they will do what the last folks had an opportunity to do but failed to follow through on. I’m so pessimistic now that if it happens, I will be looking for the signs that it occurred because it is no longer relevant to the big picture.

It looks like we have another Republican that we need to oust, as well. Steve Scalise needs to go. I was completely unaware of the brouhaha, regarding Scalise, that developed in August, before the election, but Mark Levin reminded people.

This is part of a blog post from a lobbyist that Scalise hired to vet his campaign workers: (From the Daily Caller)

But the real story was buried on Feehery’s blog. Scalise, it seems, has sought out the counsel of someone filled with a sophomoric rage against the Tea Party faction that forms one backbone of the GOP caucus Scalise aspires to help lead. Here’s a passage from Feehery’s blog post,”The Tea Party Must Be Crushed” (I’m afraid the title gives it away):

But today’s Tea Party has morphed into something far different. It has become a collection of wing-nuts, racists, hucksters, extremists, con-men and front-men, who collaborate with Hollywood and left-wing organizations to plot the demise of Republicans in good standing, .

I would bring this interesting observation/recollection...

Does anyone recall the “tone”, attitude towards the ousting of Hastert, or even DeLay???

I know DeLay was given a bad rap by charges levied against him by a local Texas DA, but I do not recall much about the level of outrage against Hastert, as much as the rancor of our current speaker of the house...

Not that I am supporting caution to oust Boehner, I am all for it, but a historical perspective (reminder) may give us an idea of a potential outcome...

Hastert's situation was considerably different from Boehner's.

The GOP lost the House in 2006 and one of the primary reasons for the loss was thought to be the homosexual escapades of Cong. Mark Foley (R-FL). As it turned out, Hastert had been aware of Foley's transgressions but had taken no steps to discipline him.

Further, Hastert was implicated in a pay-for-play scheme involving Turkey.

In the end, Hastert took the fall for the GOP's 2006 loss. There was no particular outrage -- an act of seppuku was more-or-less expected.

I forgot, but within in your reminder, I do not recall Foley’s extracurricular sexual allegations were part of why Hastert was run out on a rail...

The losses in 2006 were a prelude to the political woes we are experiencing today...

I appreciate the reminder you gave this discussion...

It does give a great reference to previous political conditions...

I’m afraid the Boner’s in for another term. In the leader conference, no viable opposing candidate was named, he was unopposed. Sorry gang.
