Schizophrenics often feel like they are in a body that is not their own.

Schizophrenia commonly starts in the early teen years when the brain is rewiring itself.

So, yes; it is likely untreated mental illness.

The individuals afflicted with this mental condition (mental, because otherwise they are physically normal), never achieve true normalcy. After they have surgery, they remain disturbed and confused. Stark reality then sets in and they realize that the “change” hasn't cured their confusion. Now, they are out of options and become even more depressed and suicidal. Left to their own devices, LGBT individuals have become mainstream mental cases like so many others who now roam our streets and public corridors. Mental disorder cases in our society have become forced new age ‘normalcy.’
