Amazon.com AMZN 0.00% turned in its worst year on the market since 2008, taking a big bite out of founder Jeff Bezos’ personal net worth.
Chief Executive Bezos saw his Amazon holdings lose about $7.4 billion in value over the course of the year as the e-commerce giant’s shares fell more than 22%. Still, Bezos’ 84 million shares, equal to 18.3% of the company, will ring in the New Year with a value of roughly $26.1 billion.
Shareholders punished Amazon for its free spending on projects such as the Fire smartphone and other gadgets and a widening network of warehouses close to urban centers. The company has admitted it botched the phone’s rollout, mainly blaming its price for slow sales.

Amazon craps all over the sellers that use their site. They deserve it in spades.
I’ve got a Kindle and yes, you can install outside non-Amazon apps easily, pretty much anything that will run on an Android will happily run on a Kindle.
Here’s how:
1. install “ES File Explorer” through Amazon so you can browse your files easily.
2. allow the Kindle to use outside apps in the “Device” permissions menu
3. download the Android app files (called .apk) via computer and put them on the Kindle via the USB wire to a file folder.
4. unhook the Kindle from the computer, find the file folder where you have the app files on the Kindle via ES Explorer and doubleclick to install ‘em. Most of the time, they install like a breeze, unless you’ve got things that require extra files to function (my Kindle has an Atari 2600 sim called “Droid2600” that requires extra “bin” files ).
I’m not a tech person (go ask someone who is if this all makes no sense to you!) but that’s the way I do it.
I'd hate to miss the Masters, for example.
My wife thinks that they'll charge us through the nose to just get cable internet and not have that rolled into a TV package.
I’m still dependent on cable for high speed internet service, otherwise I would cut it for good. Still using DTV though, since Household 6 can’t do without certain programs and is generally too tech challenged to figure out interweb tv programming. I would dearly love to cut the DTV cord and go strictly streaming.
Part of me want’s to not discuss this, because once all the suckers find out, streaming will go the way of the major providers.

Fair usage laws have always allowed it, but now it is at your fingertips on demand.
Why pay for cable and Tivo?
They didnt lose seven billion.
Where do you live? You might be able to put up an antenna and get quite a few of the live events. It still doesn’t replace ESPN, however.

Currently using the Keedox A10.
It has a decent operating system on it and does 1080 with ease.
Tried the Gbox, slow and clunky.
OUYA was great but the OS sucked and the interfaces are very limited.

Few days ago I went cheaper at ebay for two iPod touch usb cables @99¢ each/free shipping from a US seller. Best Buy had these at $12 each

See Post #4, above. We bought an Amazon Fire TV last month, and you could see immediately that cable TV was done for. Aside from news, we hardly watch a cable TV program anymore now that we have Fire TV. Cable TV series, HBO, Showtime, and the like, and Discovery documentaries, among many others, are free with Amazon Prime as are thousands of recent movies, and the picture quality is better than Cable HD. In the cases where I need to pay for something, the price is usually less than On Demand, and far less than the monthly cable bill for 95% of the content delivered that I have no interest in. What's even better, Amazon offers movies that are "out of print" or not available any longer. John Huston's The Roots of Heaven is one I enjoyed last week. Pay for what you want to watch, and only that, is what streaming promises.

Does Fire TV have XBMC on it?
Last I looked it did not and they were making it hard to install.
Luckily, my problem is small. There really isn't much reason to keep the TV part of our package. We just need cable internet.

DSL will do but cable internet is the key.

My ebay ones prolly low quality compared to Amazon ones with reviews. I was just sorting through my micro-usb cables and some would not work. Low quality stainless and got rusty//// When I have time I will file off the rust to see it this fixes them
Not all stainless steel is rust proof...low grade is not.
EXAMPLE: I have been buying ebay/chicom rechargeable AA batteries for fun. I am about to buy some at Amazon (part of my 35$+ order w free shipping) that are verified...as in lots of good reviews. Tenergy batteries.

I like this little box

I like this little box, I like the operating software and like the pre installed apps with the exception of the Vidonme ver of XBMC.
I installed the latest ver of XBmC but there was no audio.,use the Androud version that is NOT X86.
Poked around the internet a bit and found that the cause is Keedox uses the Allwinner chipset.
To fix it you just go to XBMC, system, settings go to video, then at the bottom of the page change user settings to “expert” then in Video settings go to “acceleration” and disable “mediacodec”, laeve Libstagefright” enabled.
Viola! XBMC ver 13.1 works like a hose!
The little remote seems to work very well, but I added a Hausbell remote keyboard.
What I lake about this over the Ouya is that it has a better operating system and is easy to surf the web with and get apps for.
The Ouya works like a charm but is difficult to navigate due to the poor operating system
I think Ouyas hardware is better but Keedox is way easier to use and has Several USB ports and an SD card slot.
Good Wifi performance
