Harold Gray's creation has been a little white girl for ninety years, but now the mere suggestion of that historical fact causes "outrage" by black racists/fascists who seem to think they have claimed ownership of the very concept of Little Orphan Annie. If King Features Syndicate was to revive the strip (which only ended a couple of years ago), they'd be browbeaten into making the character black. We truly live in a time of madness.

Just imagine if they cast a White guy to play Jackie Robinson in the movie 42. Or what if, when they filmed the movie Selma they had Rosie O’ Donnell dressed in drag playing MLK?

My Mom had the complete set of the Little Orphan Annie books, which I loved reading as a child. After Mom died, my siblings were not interested in the books, so I now have them.
