Rail enthusiasts in Ohio were pushing for funds to develop "high speed rail" from Cleveland through Columbus to Cincinnati, a pretty straight shot running parallel to heavily traveled I-71, with limited stops, basically an express run. When the engineers figured out how it would work on the ground, the average speed was 45 mph. Kasich sent the feds their 440 million back and said no thanks. Smart move.
