POPE: UN MUST FIGHT 'GLOBAL WARMING'
the guardian ^ | 12/27/14 | j vidal

He has been called the “superman pope”, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change?

It looks as if he will give it a go. In 2015, the pope will issue a lengthy message on the subject to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the UN general assembly and call a summit of the world’s main religions.

The reason for such frenetic activity, says Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is the pope’s wish to directly influence next year’s crucial UN climate meeting in Paris, when countries will try to conclude 20 years of fraught negotiations with a universal commitment to reduce emissions.

“Our academics supported the pope’s initiative to influence next year’s crucial decisions,” Sorondo told Cafod, the Catholic development agency, at a meeting in London. “The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion.”

Following a visit in March to Tacloban, the Philippine city devastated in 2012 by typhoon Haiyan, the pope will publish a rare encyclical on climate change and human ecology. Urging all Catholics to take action on moral and scientific grounds, the document will be sent to the world’s 5,000 Catholic bishops and 400,000 priests, who will distribute it to parishioners.

Elijah’s body could not enter heaven.

Only incorruptible spiritual bodies will be able to enter the realm of Yehova.

He said no MAN born of woman was greater than John.

Jesus said in Matt. 11 v 11:

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he

Meant to ping you too, refuting the posters error in stating what the scripture says about John Baptist. He said “No Man is greater” Matthew 11 v 11 says differently. He’s wrong, we are right.

yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

So when did Mary take over scripturally. Any written endorsement from her Son not some tradition?

Perhaps you’ve missed these:

Luke 12:57-59 -If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison.
59
I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”*
I Cor 3:15 - But if someone’s work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved,* but only as through fire.
Col 1:24 - Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

Even you cannot be so obtuse as to try to stretch those verses beyond the breaking point to get to purgatory.

(can you?)

We do not pay anything, Yeshua paid the price, both for our sins and for our healing.

We couldn’t possibly pay except by eternity in hell!

Catholics are a sorry lot!

Yeshua paid the price, but they are too stubborn to say thanks, so they set out to do the impossible: pay it themselves, so that they won’t have to ever say thanks to the man that did it.

That is why entering a catholic church is always so depressing.

Translations prove nothing. What does it say in Greek?

“You’d think you’d know that as a Catholic, writing the Bible and all.”

Stick to the subject, rather than tossing in bigoted remarks.

This guy appears to be a hell of alot more worried about temporal affairs than eternal ones.

And I agree with you b.i.t., warming is a heck of a lot better than cooling with regards to food production.

Catholic translation doesn't say man. 11 Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the lesser in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

“You’d think you’d know that as a Catholic, writing the Bible and all.” Stick to the subject, rather than tossing in bigoted remarks.

The reference is to a widely propagated claim of Catholics on FR. Bigotry? Need to get out more.

concentrating on earthly policies is why I say he is diminishing those of a spiritual nature.

Russia and Canada would be breadbaskets of the world if we can get a bit warmer.
