Police officers in Texas City fatally shot and killed a man identified by family members as Carlton Smith, a 20-year-old African-American. Texas City Police Chief Robert Burby said he was shot down because he was armed and was pointing his weapon at one of the officers.
What happened, according to the police, is that the manager of HT’s Lounge called to report a fight breaking out inside the club. When the police arrived, they saw an individual firing a gun in the direction of patrons exiting the club.
He reportedly pointed his gun at an officer and was shot down. Club owner Harris Aldridge said he reviewed video footage and said the individual did, in fact, make a more toward the cop with a gun.
Some witnesses have different accounts of what happened. One said Smith was shot at from behind, without warning, and others said he may have been holding the gun, but there was another woman who shot in the air to break up the fighting.
Whatever happened, there are reports that after Smith was shot, the crowd of over 100 people threw bottles and rocks at the police. A Texas City PD spokesperson said there were no reported injuries.
As for Smith’s family, they say he was not a violent person and have some questions about the official police accounting of what happened.

Then why did he have a gun at a bar/lounge if he’s not a violent person? It’s a felony, in Texas, to have a gun on the premises where they sell alcohol.
I’m a retired teacher. A few years ago, I had a Black student who was a Junior in H.S. He had two baby mama. That is the honest truth, he was a 17 y.o. with two baby mama. Not only was I, a Texas taxpayer, paying for his FREE breakfast and FREE lunch at school every day, I was paying for his two bastard kids’ basic needs; including their FREE health care.
What’s next a new protest slogan, “See a cop, throw a bottle”?

In a manner of speaking, they already are and have been for a very long time. They’ve managed to put themselves on that list by their behavior patterns which include massive abortions of their unborn, deciding that going to school and becoming educated is “too white,” and by being too stupid to understand that their petty crimes end up killing a goodly number of their numbers.
Unfortunately, the noose they’ve put around their own collective necks is tightening. They will continue to live in more concentrated areas by virtue of their inability to make a living. Chicago’s South Side is but one “shining example.” What a shame!
I bet the mother will be crying and screaming when interviewed on CNN, complaining that instead of her son receiving gifts from the police like all those “white people” received when they were pulled over (seen in those commercials last week), the police targeted her son because he was black and the cop was racist.
That would have been appropriate. Killing 2 birds with one stone.
