We have a bunch of holy innocents in our own contemporary time.
I really like St. Jerome. Latin was the “Vulgate’, or the language of the common people. By his translating of the Scriptures into Latin, he was giving it directly to US!
Now, Latin is no longer commonly used, except in Medicine, Law, and Religion, but the idea of translating God’s Word into contemporary languages continues to this day.

I have about 8 different translations which I rotate through.
"We have a bunch of holy innocents in our own contemporary time." Indeed! That is why their sacrifice resonates so strongly in me. |

I'd like to learn Aramaic so I could weigh in with authority on these disputes and changes in language. I don't think I'll be able to do that in the time remaining. |
