This situation has an eerie similarity to the actions against Germany that precipitated World War II.

Isn’t this what they call “nation building”?

I thought it was bad for US to do that.

At least, it was when W was president.

I’m so confused...

Meanwhile the national treasure, the USS Olympia, will be sunk as a reef soon for lack of 20 million dry docking that it hasn’t had in 50 years. While we earmark 15 billion to help the EU expand its trading area.
I guess at least it isn’t going to isis.

...Or how we handled(some would say provoked) Japan before the war.

It seems we are just determined, and won’t stop until we finally put Russia into a position to where they’ll have no choice other than war.

It’s so obvious what we are doing. Where are all of those anti-war liberals? If they TRULY want to stop a war, NOW is the time to do it. Not after the troops are deployed and the bullets are flying!

Are we at a good enough state of readiness and condition to fight a large scale war with Russia, after this past decade? I’d imagine we have a lot of rebuilding to do. Not to mention how we’ve cut virtually all things military!

That kind of understanding and historical knowledge is something this arrogant administration, cabinet and its state depart cronies have little understanding or regard for,

They operate as if this is the first time events like these have ever played out in the world,

Very dangerous and naive,

President will sign Russia sanctions bill (Dec 15)

...The legislation authorizes the president to provide $350 million over the next three years in military assistance to Ukraine, including defense equipment, services and training aimed at helping the country re-establish its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pretty good scam - invade a country, destroy their economy, starve their populace, then demand aid from the IMF

They've been doing that in Africa for decades.

That’s sad about the Olympia. I visited her in Philly about 25 years ago, and stood on the spot on the bridge where Dewey gave his order “You may fire when ready, Gridley.” One of the most famous naval commands in history.

It won’t be long before all of those museum ships start having serious “issues.” I know the USS North Carolina was due for a trip to the yard. It’s a telling sign of America’s decline that the monuments to our history rust out so that we can pay bribes and tribute to foreign countries.

At this rate, US policy is going to start a war, and Europe will pay the price. Doesn't this administration know anything about the Russian spirit and the acceptance of suffering if the goals are important enough?

And are Russians paranoid for believing the West is waging economic war on them?

A lot of folks on this site have expressed that same concern,

And many of those awake and aware have an increasing sense that we’re nearing a very bad confluence of events, the kind where historians might one day look back and wonder why our leaders didn’t see the obvious as it approached.

Do you?

Do you think that Russians suffer, and fight incompetently, and die by the tens of millions as unfed cannon fodder because they want to, or because they have no choice because they are always peasants in the hands of whatever mad man rules over them at the moment as he tries to conquer other countries?

The West is imposing sanctions on Russia because they are invading countries.

Doesn’t anyone here want to admit that moving back their own borders would end any hassles the rest of the world are punishing them with?

It’s only been 22 years, and all you pro-Russian Jimmy Carters want to rebuild the evil empire?

Russians are always paranoid - it's a national characteristic.

But that doesn't mean the West isn't waging economic war on them.

And it doesn't mean there isn't a great possibility it could lead to a more serious confrontation.
