You may see me as a pessimist. But I am just recognizing the depth of the disturbing realities surrounding us.

naw, you are just a realist.

I am one of those you might say is sitting on the couch. Tried to get others to see what I see. Elijah in the Bible thought he was the only one left, but God told him there were 7 thousand others, Elijah just didn’t see them.

One of the tenets of conservatism is understanding human nature. One of tenets is most people don’t do things until they have to. They will take the easiest path.

So what do we do? There are many things.

1) Find people of like mind, you are not going to convert people. Most people don’t change. Starting to believe the only way someone changes is with God’s sprit. I am finding warriors but they are few.

2) Be faithful in little things. Sounds familiar also? The little conversations, statements, actions will make the difference. Sometimes I still want to run the artillery but then reality sets in.

3)Mental rehearsal. When the time comes, you don’t have to think, you can act. I often think of my uncle on Iwo Jima. For a year it was “up the beach and to the left” and that was all they knew. When they got there they under stood, there was Mt Suribachi and the training took over.

4)Study history - this has all happened before, it is not new.

5) Read the Bible..........................

Some very bad things have happened throughout history. We’ve been very lucky so far.
