The suspensions are to preserve order and help the kids who want to learn.
The kids being suspended are disruptive and are destroying the learning environment. Our first duty is to the kids that want to learn. Otherwise you drag everyone down to the level of the losers being suspended.
Thanks for your post - saved me typing essentially the same thing. The hurdle to actually suspend/expel is set very high to ensure the student has the opportunity to change the anti-education behavior. The bar ought to be moved lower so the education climate can improve quicker for the others. Too many are still there being bad examples for the rest of the students.
That is absolutely right, but not widely understood in today's self centered culture.
