Imprisoned blacks often take on a “Muslim” name and identity while incarcerated. Analogous to joining a gang. Whether he was a real Muslim or not, that moniker is a warning to the wise that such an individual is dangerous.

I read a few years back, I can’t recall where or when, that real muslims do not feel kinship toward the American Black “muslims”. They use them to attain their goals, but other than that, they have no use for them. In other words, they don’t consider them real muslims.

Exactly. Most American born black “muslims” are marginal at best.

I used to know one of these guys who was more devout than most but he didn’t make any wide detours around ham, drugs, alcohol, etc. He wore the robes, carried a koran, and knew a few quotes but didn’t bother with the 5 pillars. It was all for show.

What “undiagnosed mental illness” could that be? Islam possibly?
