TEL AVIV Russia is preparing a contingency plan to prompt Hezbollah and possibly the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad into a direct military conflict with Israel, according to a French official who has been apprised of the situation. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the contingency was meant to be used as a card against the West, particularly the U.S. and European Union, which has been engaged in efforts to isolate Moscow...

Then take Israeli missiles and Russkie crying at face value:
"The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded "explanations" from Israel, following reports that the Israeli Air Force allegedly bombed several targets on Syrian territory, including some in the vicinity of the Damascus international airport.
Moscow sent an official letter of complaint to the UN Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon, citing "Israeli aggression" and calling not to permit such actions in the future.
According to a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website, "Moscow is gravely concerned about this dangerous turn of events, the circumstances of which require explanations. In any case, there is no doubt that the use of force in international affairs is unacceptable and deserves to be condemned."
"It is important not to allow further destabilization of the already tense situation in Syria and the Middle East region as a whole," the statement said.
Vladimir Putin remains one of the only international allies of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Israel said Monday it will not allow "sophisticated weapons" to fall into the hands of its enemies, after furious claims from Syria that Israeli warplanes carried out air strikes near Damascus."

You are right, but good luck getting anyone to listen.
from the artical...”Russia is preparing a contingency plan to prompt Hezbollah and possibly the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad into a direct military conflict with Israel.”
So....devising a plan? Putin REALLY needs to reconsider such a move, otherwise he, and the military he brings with him against Israel will be meeting head on with more than just Israel!....
What you've reverenced is the second push against Israel, as Russia will still have some of it's military strength though greatly weakened....and will be the war of Armageddon...when many nations come to war in the Valley of Jehoshaphat.
When the actual time comes...it will be Israel’s oil Russia...will be after. THAT will be the hook.
see post 26
See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.”
Damascus is perhaps the world’s longest continually occupied city. If it gets destroyed that will be a first.
Also interesting that Immigration from US to Israel is on the rise...3,762 North Americans moved to Israel in 2014, 7% more than last year....Most of the new immigrants, know as Olim, came from the states of New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Illinois, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
What do you think it means when is said a hook gets put in the jaw of Gog?
Well I’m sorry to hear that.
Here's Damascus current situation....meanwhile Assad asked Russia for 3 billion to continue with the fight...uncertainty if Putin will comply...
Thought you might be interested to see how these rebels fight ...’close combat’ as they take a building in Daryia near Damascus...they may not be accurate but they are definately relentless... those rebels have been holding Assad army for more than 2 years

Thanks for the link.
That’s some heavy urban warfare. The defenders could sure use some grenades. One fighter appears to have left a chunk of his leg behind at 0:59.
Israel is apparently able to live with Assad. But if this ISIS crew takes over things will heat up in a big way.
A reluctant Gog is going to get pulled into a big war.
“You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars.”
It will have to be at a time when Israel believes it has achieved peace with its neighbors. That’s not now.
Moreover there isn’t any implied link between Damascus and Ezekiel 38, so I’d discount Putin pushing Assad into anything. Maybe Damascus comes first. If ISIS takes Syria I could see them being fool enough to provoke Israel into dropping something big on their heads.
Unless this is true. Defected Syrian Gen. Tlass says Assad sold Syria to Iran
Thanks for the ping amazing how it’s all playing out.
No kidding. One grenade is all it would take for all those guys as bunched up as they are. Not exactly tactically proficient. That tells you just how good the Syrian Army is if they've been fought to a standstill for two years by these guys.
