A new review of the Secret Service has found that the agency's problems run deeper than White House fence-jumpers. The protective service, an independent panel reported on Thursday, could use more and better-trained officers, better technology, and, most important, leadership that is not Julia Pierson.
But the fence, the one scaled by a mentally ill Iraq war veteran in September, still matters, and it can't stay as is. The panel, which was composed of four former administration officialstwo who served under Obama, two under the latest Bush"believes strongly that the fence around the White House needs to be changed as soon as possible to provide better protection." So, what should the new-and-improved fence guarding the seat of executive power look like?

The fence should also be bigger:
For sure, the fence must be taller; even an increase of four or five feet would be materially helpful.
It should also be impossible to climb:
Horizontal bars, where climbers can easily place feet or hands, should be eliminated or placed where they provide little assistance. The top of the fence can also be manipulated in certain wayssuch as including curvature outward at the top of the fenceto make scaling it much more difficult for most.

Why don’t they just put a 100 ft fence around the place, then an Army division outside of that, then a Marine division around the place outside of that. That’ll make sure that none of “WE the People ...” ever get close to the “People’s house!”
When do they install the moat ?
NOT around the White House.
(To think George Washington sent the troops who were going to guard him home...)
Thanks!
My first thought as well.
This fence will stop an armed drone I suppose?
Who cares about the aircraft when we need to be more concerned about keeping the Illegal Immigrant-in-Chief behind bars?
Hell just put a hot wire on top of the fence. Very high voltage with low amperage. That will simply stun them. An alternative is High Voltage and high amperage. That will will fry them, with a very low rate of recidivism.
The hot wire could be defeated with a little skill. If this happens apply lethal force. It is easier to kill them than try and catch them. Let the dogs loose and if they escape the dogs, shoot them.
How about no? A taller fence won’t help - those want to get in will just bring longer ladders. No more guards either. That will just inflame the tensions and endanger innocent passersby. The best security for the WH border is electronic monitors, and nothing more. Either it works, or it doesn’t. But we’re assured such a measure is the most effective method of protecting the border of the country, it must also apply the the WH border.
All because the SS cannot do it’s job. The Iron Gate should really be on AF1 don’t you think!
Yet we won’t build one on the Mexican border.
That’s got it.
Here’s an idea. Do nothing and just have the security team do their jobs. This is what happens when the people who have been hired to take care of the President is managed by an incompetent affirmative action pick.

I agree. Shoot the dogs for incompetence if they can't catch the intruder.
Taller than the one along our national southern border?
