If you want to see the disaster that is Detroit turn into an economic powerhouse just turn the entire metro area into a free enterprise zone with a state/local flat tax of 5% on all earnings, private or corporate.... and fed tax also at 5% maximum in the zone for a total tax rate of just 10%
Change the school system into a voucher system.
Lower the property taxes dramatically.
Within a year [HELP WANTED] signs would be everywhere and real estate would boom.
Major corporations would set up shop in the area to reap the benefits of the reasonable level of taxation.
God only asked for 10% ... why can’t government make do with the same?
then, you do have the crime and the slime and the blight and the democrats....those are tough odds to beat...
Or you could just nuke it... from orbit... to be sure.
Economic is not difficult. Capitalism works when free from oppressive laws, regulations and taxation.
The sad thing is that the socialist know this but refused to allow it. The only reason I can come up with is that they (the socialist) want what Detroit has become. The population as slaves to the state, and their votes bought with EBT cards. The elite on top make millions upon the suffering of those on the bottom.
Conservatives want the best for all Americans, but the path required for Detroit to return to it’s former glory has been demonize by the left. Everything needed to improve the life of those living in Detroit has been called “racist”.
There is hope. Citizens behind the iron curtain eventually realized that they were lied to, and that there was a way out of their misery, but that way was not communism. The citizens caught in one party cities such as Detroit will have to find the answers on their own since they have been taught to fear advise from those on the right. I wish them luck.
Because, the gubmint, like the Obama’s spending our money of travel, vacations and golf, etc. has an enormous appetite for OUR MONEY>.
Those are sound proposals, but there must be funding for the population of “takers” (or they must be relocated elsewhere). Detroit is a microcosm of what has happened in NJ (the whole NYC metro area, in fact); takers continue voting for Dems because they don’t have to pay for the policies (programs, public school teachers, employee benefits & retirements, etc.), and “makers” (individual & corporate) are fleeing.
Vouchers are a great idea, but don’t work when the breeding population isn’t kicking into the common till to fund them; childless taxpayers (or those with grown children) are paying for school systems they don’t use.
