Washington, D.C. U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) today released the following statement on President Obamas plans to ease U.S. restrictions on Cuba and normalize diplomatic relations:
We agree with President Obama that he is writing new chapters in American foreign policy. Unfortunately, todays chapter, like the others before it, is one of America and the values we stand for in retreat and decline. It is about the appeasement of autocratic dictators, thugs, and adversaries, diminishing Americas influence in the world. Is it any wonder that under President Obamas watch our enemies are emboldened and our friends demoralized?
Unfortunately, we fear the most damaging chapter to Americas national security is still being written. We dread the day President Obama takes to the podium to announce a nuclear deal with the Iranian ayatollahs which does little, if anything, to deter their nuclear ambitions, placing our nation and our closest allies in even deeper peril.
Cuban citizens have had cellphones since 2011 and they can buy private property and also get a small business license. Things have changed in recent years. We need to help that along.
I don’t buy Linda or McInsain for a moment. The Chamber of Crony Commerce wants Cuba opened up and the GOPE liberals are for this just as much as the other liberals in the uniparty. Only those which will have a backlash from Cuban immigrants will come out against it full force.
Just with amnesty and obamacare the GOPE will huff and puff in public and do nothing, in private the words, “should have done this 30 yrs. ago...” will be the phrase of the next 3 days from all members of the uniparty.
